You Finished Your Training. Now What?
There’s a very specific moment that happens after you finish your training (you’ll know this if you’ve completed a yoga teacher training, pilates instructor training, breathwork facilitator, coach, or another wellness profession)
No one really warns you about it.
You’ve finished the course.
Got the certificate.
You’ve told a few people. Maybe even updated your Instagram bio to something like
“Coach helping women feel more confident ✨”
And you feel relieved you’ve finished the training. Proud of yourself for learning something new. It feels great. You did it.
Then a few weeks go by.
You post a few things on instagram or facebook.
Spend way longer that you want to admit on making a reel.
Rewrite the caption three times.
Your friends like it. (Thank you! They’re loyal, but not going to pay your bills).
Maybe somebody replies “this sounds great” and you think things might be starting to kick into gear. You’re onto something.
And then… nothing really happens.
No enquiries.
No one asking how to work with you.
No messages sitting there waiting for you in the morning.
Just you… opening Instagram again… and again…
checking if anyone’s replied
refreshing your inbox
wondering if you’ve missed something obvious
The bit that makes you question everything
This is usually where your brain starts getting a bit dramatic.
“Maybe I’m not ready yet”
“Maybe I need to specialise in something”
“Maybe I should do another course first”
So you start looking at other trainings.
Or spend an hour rewriting your bio again.
Or convince yourself what you really need is a full website before you can take this seriously. So you start looking at web designers.
You’re feeling productive again. Like things are going in the right direction.
But if you’re really honest with yourself… it’s not really moving anything forward.
There reason this happens
In your yoga/pilates/coach/breathwork or other wellness course, you might have been shown this graph at some point:
Adapted from the Dunning–Kruger effect
(Dunning & Kruger, 1999)
I was shown it in during my coaching training. And it made a huge amount of sense at the time. The Dunning–Kruger effect.
At the start, you don’t know what you don’t know.
So your confidence is quite high. You’re excited to start the training and proud of yourself for going for it.
Then you learn more…and realise there’s a lot more to this than you thought.
Your confidence dips.
But the thing I was thinking about the other day was how much the graph relates to how you feel post-training, as it does during training.
Because that dip doesn’t just happen during your course.
It often hits properly after.
Because you’ve learned one thing… but not the other
During your training, you learned how to:
coach someone
teach a class
hold space without panicking
What you didn’t learn (because most trainings don’t cover it, or don’t cover it enough) is:
how someone actually finds you
what makes them go “that’s exactly what I need”
how they go from seeing your post to actually booking
what you’re even meant to offer at the start
So you end up in this kind of in-between frustrating place:
“I know I can help people…but I don’t know how to turn this into actual work.”
And that’s where a lot of people in the wellness sector get stuck
Not because they’re not good.
But because they start making it mean something about them.
“I’m not confident enough yet”
“I need more experience first”
“I’ll wait until I feel clearer”
And maybe weeks go by… then months.
What actually helps (and it’s not another course)
It’s a simple shift, but a lot of people don’t get to this point.
Instead of:
“Why isn’t this working?”
Try:
“What don’t I understand yet about getting clients?”
And usually it’s really practical stuff:
who you’re actually talking to (not “anyone who needs help”)
what’s going on in their life right now
how you describe what you do without it sounding vague or a bit… fluffy
how you make it easy for someone to say yes without overthinking it
Not complicated.
Just not obvious when you’ve never done it before.
If this is where you are
If you’ve finished your yoga/pilates/coach/healing/breathwork training and you’re in that in-between stage…
Where you know you want to do something with it, but you’re not quite sure how to make it real yet…
You’re not behind.
You’re not missing something everyone else magically knows.
You’re just at the point where the focus shifts.
If you want help with this
This is exactly what we support people with.
Taking it from:
“I’ve qualified”
to
“I actually have people booking and paying me”
Without it feeling overwhelming or like you suddenly need to become a content machine.
If that sounds like where you’re at, send us a message and we can chat about working together.
